This gorgeous exceptional necklace golden necklace is not magnetic; however, I can find no markings - so I believe it is either gold fill which was very popular at the time as it has a slight rose cast and gold was often cut with copper or Nickle etc. or it’s a heavy gold plate as even after all these years, unlike newer plated jewelry, it has no metal wear ot signs of the gold tone wearing off from a base metal. It’s nicely weighted, and looks maybe jeweler or small company like early kremetz made. It has a cute snap clasp which also became quite popular in the 40s as well. Herringbone chain, most known from its popularity in the 1970s has actually been around for over 1000 years! And did have some popularity in the 40s as well. The art deco style is simple and lending towards the modernist designs to follow making it almost more art moderne in style. Absolutely wonderful necklace. Definitely will make a unique, special and cherished gift & I will send it gifted nicely.
